Sport-E pitch

Nov 2004

Sport-E is the UK’s largest online retailer for sportswear and equipment, and we were asked to pitch for their account in 2005.

This was an interesting pitch to work on, as we took a very conceptual approach to presenting our work and ideas to the client. We decided to use the concept of the Sport-E site as a product they sold, delivering the pitch information within a twentysix trainer box with associated product information.

As they walked into the pitch room, we had an assortment of materials on the table ready to present. Our site audit and competitor research was presented in a sports magazine format named ‘insight’, and our audience research and site improvement ideas into a care instructions booklet. We had all of our sketches reproduced on tissue paper, and key functionality/tool ideas displayed in poster form.

The design concepts were made into postcards and sticker packs, and the project plan and costings were all attached to the inside of the net that constructed the box. The box was put together as the presentation went on, with each item being added to it once it had been discussed. Then we simply handed over the box for them to take away.

The pitch won the work, but the project was cancelled following a strategic shift within Littlewoods, the parent company. However, it does demonstrate my role in presenting ideas more effectively.
