www.mydeco.com (site currenty in Beta)
Mydeco was a new .com start-up business conceived by Brent Hobberman and Martha Lane Fox who together founded lastminute.com. I joined the in-house team to help apply the design to undeveloped areas of the site, develop interfaces of the applications, and take the lead in creating and designing the community areas of the site.
The site allows users to either upload or create from scratch a room from their home, add real products available from any UK retailer, play with the layout and produce renderings of how their newly decorated room would look in 3D. The room can then be published to the community to get feedback and advise from fellow users and design professionals, helping to perfect your design, and eventually buy their desired range in a consolidated basket process. Multiple levels of access are available for various user-profiles.
The site was also intended to be the primary location for all interior design related editorial content and product news, with a massive knowledge base and answer request system for DIY related topics. I worked on the project for 6 months and helped get the project live (into Beta), and now it is well on it's way to becoming the countries most popular home-design site.
A prototype page for the 'teaser' holding page concept I devised.
