Paul Sulyok founded Green Man Gaming as a digital retailer of PC games selling 700 titles from 75 publishing partners in 146 countries around the world. Unlike any other digital retailer, Green Man Gaming customers can trade-in their digitally downloaded games for credit in their account and this credit can then be used for new purchases. As digital downloads don't get worn out, just the license can be traded. Managed by Green Man gaming desktop client called Capsule, acting as a market place and launch pad for running your games collection. This allows game publishers to have control and take a cut of the resale market that was previously unregulated and totally out of their control. In return GMG are allowed to license their products.
The core of the site is an e-commerce platform promoting and selling games. At its heart is the patented technology to allow users to manage their purchases and trade them in for credit against new purchases. The market place has a created a vibrant community and PC games economy.
We worked with Paul and his team to devise best approach redesign to increase conversion and bring the design and user experience to a new level. Since the site launched in early 2011, the 6 months that followed saw the following improvements:
