GeoSweep.com The Unlottery

Oct 2010
www.geosweep.com

GeoSweep.com was founded by James & Henry Oakes. Their idea was to challenge the national lottery with a more exciting game that use the UK as the arena. Using google maps API, the country is divided into 60million squares (Geos) of varying sizes. Users search the map for desired location and buy Geo's which are theirs to keep and act as their ticket intuit eh daily draws. Someone wins a daily guaranteed prize everyday (randomly selected form purchased squares), and there's a £1million draw from all the squares on the map. Everyday. Runners up are also selected from a prize zone that expand around the winning geo. Odds are 2.33x better (pound for pound) than the National Lottery, and the game is more fun and daily.

We worked with the team for 9 months to get the alpha working and push the product through to live. It was complicated proposition with a lot of user experience challenges - around conveying the concept and ensuring people knew how to play, as well as adage and maintain their purchases.
