Day 0 - Preparing to leave

So, the time is upon us once again to disappear form the British Isles for the winter to cultures and climates of a distant variety.

A friend of Lukas’, again called Petr (although not the same Petr as last time), is joining us, but only for the first 3 weeks, after which we’re on our own.

So the three of us are setting off early tomorrow morning to Heathrow for an 11:40am flight that takes us via Houston, Texas, and then onto Mexico city:



This has to be the least planned adventure yet. Other trips we researched heavily and made a rough plan of what we want to accomplish while there. Learning from past experiences, we always threw any plans straight out of the window once we arrived as we discovered they were either not applicable, or there was something better to do. So this time, no plan, no route, not even a hotel booked for when we land. A real travel-as-you-go philosophy. Lets see if it pays off.

All we know is we definitely want to visit Guatemala & Belize, so will likely head south and do a circuit of some kind that encompasses these countries along with the southern half of Mexico. I know I want to do a lot of diving in the Caribbean too, although this will likely come towards the end of our time away…

Will be trying to do at least weekly updates as we go, so stay tuned to this space. Updates will be posted on facebook amongst other channels.
